Our Story
The Industry Commercialisation Agency (ICA) is a division of the Small and Mighty Group, established to support the growth and prosperity of Australian technology and innovation.
Founded by Tara James, Small and Mighty Group was launched back in 2017. Armed with an arsenal of industry and business experience, Tara recognised the need to provide a modern alternative to the traditional rigid agency and consultancy approach.
Small and Mighty Group was born out of a desire to offer businesses a flexible, tailored solution that is rooted in evidence-based decision-making, and designed to achieve tangible results. The company comprises three divisions: Small and Mighty, the Retail Academy, and Industry Commercialisation Agency.
The ICA division was created to complement the vast array of Small and Mighty Group services, offering a specialised unit dedicated to successful commercialisation strategies for Australian industry. Our team of professionals have the expertise to assess the unique needs of your organisation and offer solutions that will produce long-lasting results.
Meet the Founders

Boasting decades of experience in business leadership, commercialisation, international marketing, business development and management, Tara is a strategist who makes things happen. She believes in a jargon-free approach that’s packed with honest advice and authenticity.
With education qualifications that span business, marketing, management, and law; Tara has delved into the public, private and non-for-profit sectors where she has sharpened her stakeholder and project management skills. Tara is a results-driven professional and has gained invaluable experience over a number of years in delivering far-reaching campaigns across a range of digital and traditional marketing channels.
For almost a decade, Tara has helped clients and businesses grow and reach their targets. In a rapidly changing world, she brings flexibility and a knack for thinking outside the box, alongside vast industry knowledge and a practical skillset.

Torben is a library of knowledge with an outstanding ability to apply theory and international experience to businesses in an ever-changing climate. He can spot organisational development opportunities from a mile away and believes that sales are a direct result of customer service.
With more than three decades of industry experience and different board roles, Torben knows a thing or two about managing and growing businesses. Born in Denmark, his Scandinavian approach to business is agile, progressive and customer focused.
Torben has also written books including The Excellent Customer Experience and worked with major international manufacturers and retails including Royal Copenhagen and George Jensen.
Beyond those impressive foundations, Torben has worked for traditional agencies where he honed his ability to rigorously test ideas and implement only the most successful practices. This experience Torben credits to his never-ending desire to apply hard work, passion and flexible thinking to all he does.
